Showing school users about whether an ECT’s induction has been recorded

Context

We wanted to show school users whether an ECT’s induction has been recorded by an appropriate body.

This is because school users are often unaware of whether an ECT’s induction has been recorded by an appropriate body, and this is important information for them to know.

The school user selects an appropriate body when registering an ECT. An appropriate body is responsible for recording an ECT’s induction, which can overwrite the information that the school user has provided.

What we’ve designed

We’ve looked to design content which indicates whether an ECT’s induction has been recorded by an appropriate body to help the school user understand the current state of induction. We first started with content which looked to indicate that an induction had not been recorded by an appropriate body.

We researched this with users, and it was not completely clear to them what this meant. We’ve since iterated the content to make it more clear that the appropriate body has not yet confirmed the induction.

We’re convinced that this content is more appropriate for the school user, as it is easier for them to understand that the appropriate body has not yet confirmed the induction.

Where an induction has been recorded by an appropriate body, the school user will be shown the following content:

Crucially, this clarifies to the school user that they must contact the appropriate body if they think this information is incorrect or if they want to change the appropriate body.
